Traffic Information

Noptel LineLiDAR sensors provide versatile alternatives to measure fast and reliably various information concerning the passing traffic flow. The acquired traffic information is delivered to the traffic control center or control unit of the system via Ethernet communication link.

LineLiDAR sensors measure independently and automatically the required traffic information and the sensor operation is easily configured to collect and deliver required data. They are applicable for both stationary and mobile systems, which collect traffic related information measuring both approaching and receding vehicles.

For traffic management and safety LineLiDAR sensors can monitor traffic flow, detect congestion and identify clear traffic violations. They enable the implementation of intelligent transportation systems for optimizing traffic signal timing, managing parking spaces and improving overall road safety.

 
When we think about the safety of pedestrians and cyclists, LineLiDAR sensors can detect and track pedestrians, e-scooters and cyclists, providing valuable information to improve security measures in urban areas. This includes identifying potential collision risks and enabling early warning systems for vulnerable road users.

Furthermore, LineLiDAR sensors can be applied for vehicle detection and classification, which are particularly useful for toll collection systems and law enforcement.  

By analyzing shape, size and movement of vehicles in the 3D point cloud data, the user can accurately identify and classify different types of vehicles.

Mining Operations

LineLiDAR sensors can be applied in harsh mining environments to measure terrain and detect obstacles by directly creating a 2D map of the surrounding environment or a 3D map with the aid of supporting equipment for turning or tilting the sensor.

One of the benefits for applying LineLiDAR sensors in mining operations is the ability to operate in demanding conditions such as low light, dust and smoke. This is particularly useful in underground mining operations, where visibility can be limited due to the lack of natural light and the presence of airborne particles.

LineLiDAR sensors are capable of measuring distances up to 40 meters, which make them ideal for detecting changes in terrain and identifying potential hazards. They can be mounted on drones, robots or other vehicles to conduct surveys and inspections, reducing the need for personnel to enter hazardous areas.

Furthermore, LineLiDAR sensors can be applied to provide real-time data, allowing operators to make informed decisions and respond quickly to changes in the environment. This can improve safety, increase efficiency, and reduce downtime in mining operations. They can be limitedly applied in areas of extremely high humidity, such as in some underground mining operations, thanks to their rugged, sealed and nitrogen filled encapsulation.

Roadway Conditions

LineLiDAR sensors can be applied to assess roadway conditions and detect defects such as potholes, cracks or uneven surfaces. This information can be used to prioritize maintenance and repair activities as well as to improve safety and reduce the risk of accidents.

One application in north is measurement of snow thickness or height with high accuracy, which can be useful for a variety of applications, including determining the need for snow removal or assessing the risk of avalanches. Snow quantity is typically expressed in millimeters or centimeters.

LineLiDAR sensor can easily determine the distance between the sensor and the snow surface - in real-time, if wanted, or like time-laps style. This distance can be used to calculate the snow depth or thickness by comparing it to the summer reference levels.

The benefit of applying LineLiDAR sensor for snow quantity measurement is the ability to capture data in real-time. This can be especially useful for determining the timing and frequency of snow removal operations (ploughing control) or road maintenance operations, as well as assessing the risk of avalanches in mountainous areas.

Buildings and Structures

LineLiDAR sensors can facilitate capturing and creation of 3D models for concept visualization or project planning and management - facilitating service as well as preservation and restoration efforts. 

LineLiDAR sensors can capture detailed 3D models of landmarks, statues, infrastructure or small buildings.

Furthermore, Line LiDAR Sensors are capable to operate in harsh environments and processes. They can be applied e.g. for measuring (very) hot surfaces, which are typical in steel industry and among many other industrial environments.
